10 cm Turkish Bowls Blue Iznik Collection
Iznik collection pottery, named after the town of İznik in western Anatolia where it was made, is a decorated ceramic that is being produced since the last quarter of the 15th century as a traditional art of Turkey (previously called Ottoman Empire until 1923)
The blue Iznik collection is the first original Iznik art and colour. The turquoise is often combined with the dark shade of cobalt blue and its family colours.
From the last decade of the century there was a marked deterioration in quality and although production continued during the 17th century the designs were poor, and the city's role as primary ceramics producer was taken by Kutahya.
